The origins of this French retriever and water dog can be traced back to at least the 1700s, and it is thought to be a related ancestor of the Poodle. The Barbet was developed to work alongside hunters and farmers to flush and retrieve waterfowl from the marshes, lakes and estuaries of France with its water resistant coat offering protection from the elements.
Someone both active and sociable who wants a loyal and equally sociable companion to join in their adventures. If you also need a non-shedder, this breed is perfect!
Those without the time or inclination to enjoy the great outdoors and anyone with an ornamental pond.
