Good for first time owners

The origins of this French retriever and water dog can be traced back to at least the 1700s, and it is thought to be a related ancestor of the Poodle. The Barbet was developed to work alongside hunters and farmers to flush and retrieve waterfowl from the marshes, lakes and estuaries of France with its water resistant coat offering protection from the elements.
