Bred to hunt rabbit/hare in the rocky, dense Vendee region of France, the Grand Basset and the Petit Basset were interbred until 1977. Until then, and for a few years afterwards, a big dog at 12 months was called the Grand; a small one, the Petit.
Someone that wants a longer-backed dog than the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. The Grand has a longer tail, ears and muzzle, too.
Someone that wants a taller type of Petit Basset. This isn't always guaranteed. A big Petit can be the same height as a small Grand!
Average size - could pick up if you had to in an emergency
High (Two hours or more)
Without sufficient mental and physical exercise will probably do the wall of death around the living room!
If not hand stripped will go fluffy. If you don't pluck their fur in the old fashioned way they transform from spikey to soft.
All canines drop some hair, think of it as dog glitter!
