Just before the French Revolution, the 'Dutch Barge Dog' became the mascot of the Patriot faction in the Netherlands. Prominent party leader Cornelius ('Kees') de Gyselaer owned one and so the breed became known as Kee's dog – or Keeshond.

Barge dwellers who love life on the water and the feel of a spitz coat.

Not the best for ...

Those who prefer a quiet life. The Keeshond can be rather vocal and, as a people-loving breed, is not keen to be left alone.

Complete an application for your breed choice(s) in just a few easy steps. You’ll be be notified when a potential match is found and we’re ready to review your application.

Match with a breeder

Upon completing your introduction call a breeder will review your application. If successful you’ll be able to arrange a meeting and be accepted onto their waiting list. A Tailwise fee of £95 (excl. VAT) will be due at the point you pay a deposit.
