The Lakeland breed was developed by crossing the Fox and Airedale Terriers. The aim was to create a dog with the stamina to run with packs of hounds in the Lake District.
Hill walkers looking for a small companion with the stamina to keep going.
Fans of foxes or badgers – the breed was bred to have the courage to kill them.
You could pick them up if you had to in an emergency.
Medium (About an hour)
Doesn't have to be a solid hour, you can give them lots of short walks.
If not hand stripped will go fluffy. If you don't pluck their fur in the old fashioned way they transform from spikey to soft.
Doesn't moult much
But all dogs shed dander so if you're allergic, make sure you'll be ok
